Money Mindset: Rewrite Your Story

If you’re a creative who’s constantly stressing about money, thinking you’ll never earn enough, or believing you’re not worthy of financial success — you’re carrying stories that aren’t true.
Limiting beliefs don’t come from nowhere. They’re learned, inherited, and 100% rewritable. Here’s the truth: money is just energy. It flows to people who are open to receiving it. Step one? Stop believing the crap you’ve been told.
Where Money Beliefs Come From
For most of us, those stories start early. I grew up in a house where money was always tight. Every penny counted. And the stress? Constant. I watched my parents shout, argue, and struggle — and it left me feeling small, anxious, and scared.
Then the world piled on: creative careers don’t pay. You need a “proper job.”
Dreaming big is dangerous. All of it seeped in, shaping the story I told myself: wanting money was greedy. Abundance wasn’t for people like me. Dreams and financial freedom couldn’t coexist.
Those stories followed me into adulthood, quietly sabotaging opportunities, keeping me small, stuck, and scared. I thought struggling was normal. I thought wanting financial ease meant I wasn’t a “real artist.”
False. Completely false.
The Bloodhound Effect: How Your Brain Confirms Your Stories
Ever been at a crowded party and suddenly hear your name across the room? That’s your brain, hyper-focused on anything relevant to your identity.
Now imagine telling yourself for years: money is bad, wanting money is greedy, I’ll always be broke.
Your brain hunts for proof. Every bill, every wage slip, every financial struggle becomes evidence that your story is true.
This is where manifesting actually works — and no, it’s not woo-woo. Science backs it. Positive affirmations, visualising abundance, breaking down limiting beliefs — it rewires your brain to see and create opportunities you were blind to before.
Feeling the Feeling Behind Money
Stop thinking about “more money.” Think about why you want it.
For me, it’s not about being rich. It’s about financial freedom. Knowing bills are covered without panic. Taking my daughter — and myself — on trips that expand our world. Living without money stress shadowing every choice.
Ask yourself: What would my life look like if I felt financially free?
One is a chase. One is a vision. One is lack. One is abundance. Train your brain to chase the vision, not the digits.
My Story: From Laundry to Abundance
When I was 30, I was skint. Really skint. Struggling to pay rent, feed my daughter, and working as a laundry assistant in a care home. Safe. Sure. But it matched exactly how I felt about myself: unworthy, invisible.
Music was my dream, but I believed deep down I wasn’t good enough. Then I noticed entertainers coming into the care home to sing for residents. I studied them. I thought, maybe… just maybe… I could do that too.
And so... I took the leap. I performed. I practiced. I put myself out there. I started my own business. Slowly, doors opened. I started seeing my own value. I devoured self-help books and personal development courses.
I learned money isn’t “good” or “bad.” It’s just energy. It flows to those who can receive it.
I flipped the narrative:
No more: “I’m skint, my parents were skint, and I'll always be skint”
Instead: “I am capable of earning money doing work that lights me up and serves others.”
I visualised the life I wanted, felt financial freedom in my body, and took real steps to make it happen.
Each time money came in, I noticed it, thanked it, and let myself feel deserving. Slowly but surely, my reality shifted.
Your Turn: Rewrite Your Money Story
Here’s how to start rewiring your brain and creating real-life evidence of abundance:
Name the Stories: Write down your beliefs about money. Don’t censor yourself. Examples: “I’m always broke,” “Money is greedy,” “I don’t deserve financial freedom.” These are not truths — they’re inherited, learned, and totally rewritable.
Flip the Script: For each limiting belief, create a positive, empowering alternative. Examples:
“I am capable of earning money doing work I love.”
“Abundance is available to me, and I can receive it.
“I deserve financial freedom and security.” Say them. Write them. Stick them somewhere you’ll see every day.
Feel the Feeling: Close your eyes and imagine what financial freedom feels like: security, joy, possibility. Live in that reality mentally before it shows up in your bank account.
Notice Opportunities: Your brain is a bloodhound — it will sniff out proof of what you believe. Start believing in abundance, and your mind will start spotting opportunities you were blind to before.
Take Action (Even Tiny Steps Count): Manifestation isn’t magic — it’s mindset + action. Send that email. Pitch that idea. Put yourself out there. Each small move builds the proof your brain needs.
💡 Quick tip: Don’t just say, “I want more money.” That’s lack. Instead, try:
“I am attracting money in ways that feel aligned, exciting, and abundant.”
